Novak Djokovic is preparing to return to action after the injury to his left thigh suffered during the 2025 Australian Open. The former world No. 1 had feared that this physical problem would be more serious and that it would keep him away from the ATP tour for a couple of months, but the situation quickly improved allowing him to participate in the Doha ATP 500.

The entry list of the prestigious tournament in Qatar is reminiscent of that of a Masters 1000, if we consider that the world number 1 Jannik Sinner and the world number 3 Carlos Alcaraz will also be present. The legend from Belgrade chose to participate in this event in 2025 also because of the partnership signed with Qatar Airways – main sponsor of the Doha ATP 500 – at the end of last year.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion will try to win his first title in 2025, after finishing last season without lifting a single trophy (except for the gold medal at the Paris Olympics).
Djokovic risks
The 37-year-old from Belgrade – who reached the semifinals in the first Major of the new season – currently occupies the sixth position in the ATP ranking, but could drop in the near future.
Thanks to the final reached at the Rotterdam ATP 500, Australian ace Alex de Minaur is already certain to be the new world number 6 starting next Monday.
Nole could also be threatened by American star Tommy Paul, who is also playing very well in Dallas after reaching the quarterfinals in Australia.

For the Serbian, it would be essential to stay in the top eight positions of the ATP ranking, especially in view of the French Open, so as not to have to face the best players already in the round of 16 or in the quarterfinals.
At the 2025 Australian Open, Djokovic was forced to face 4-time Grand Slam champion Carlitos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals and had to waste a lot of energy to prevail.
Novak injured his left thigh during that match and could not play all his chances of grabbing another Major title.
