Meghan Markle’s New Show Delivers Glam—But Leaves Royal Fans Disappointed!

If you were looking for some more behind the scenes insight into Meghan’s relationship with her in laws – this is not the show to watch.However, if you’ve wanted to know whether or not citrus brightens things in life or whether beeswax candles purify the air around you, I’d strongly recommend a watch of the Duchess of Sussex’s new series which is available on Netflix from today.Some may have set their alarms for the 8am GMT (midnight Montecito time) launch of With Love, Meghan. Others may catch it in a more relaxed way while deciding what to binge-watch after dinner tonight.If they do, they might regret not having seen the tomato and spaghetti recipe in Episode One and wishing they’d made that for their evening meal instead.But, it could always be saved for the next day. As Meghan herself shares with us, sometimes, she makes so much spaghetti, her kids Archie and Lilibet get to have it in their school lunchbox.

So where is all the gossip on her father-in-law, King Charles? What are her views on Prince William and the late Queen Elizabeth?For that, you’ll need to re-watch, Meghan’s last Netflix series where the Duchess and Duchess Sussex raked over their acrimonious departure from the Royal Family in great detail.

There are some coded swipes at the Royals. The Duchess mentions “the before, during, and after, shall we say” when talking about her long-time relationship with her make-up artist friend Daniel Martin.

There are other chats about “healing” things after they’ve been broken and having “been through a lot”.

And when talking about her new business venture, she references “the creativity that I have missed so much”.

That is likely to be Meghan’s nod to her lifestyle blog, The Tig, which she started in 2014, and her Instagram account, both of which she had to take down when she became engaged to Prince Harry.

But her new business partnership with Netflix goes beyond this TV series. The steaming giant has bought into her brand “As Ever” and will share in its success if Meghan makes money from it.

The Duchess has already applied to trademark items she could sell under her new business brand including recipe books, tableware, textiles, marmalades and – of course – her now famous jam.

On that, Meghan’s friend Mindy Kaling, the actress and comedian, says it was “one of the most glamorous moments of my life”.

Meghan sent jars of her preserve to her celebrity friends when she was launching her lifestyle brand under its old name, ‘American Riviera Orchard’.

That name had to be ditched after it ran into trademark issues.

But this show isn’t about the past. It’s all about looking forward into a sunny future.

In fact, it’s about as different from Harry and Meghan’s previous Netflix production as its possible to be.

The Californian sun shines into the kitchen (not her kitchen as she wanted to preserve the privacy of the family home), the grass is bright green, flower petals decorate the cakes and the fruit is arranged into a rainbow to make eating more fun for kids.

Prince Harry appears only briefly. This is not his show, it’s his wife’s.

In this production he is very much in the supporting role, appearing in just a couple of minutes of the 8 episodes – all about 35-40 minutes long.

It could potentially be the start of a successful new business venture for Meghan after previous attempts, like their Spotify deal, ended in a sour fashion.

If cooking, hosting, lifestyle and inspiration is your thing, it is definitely the show to you.

If you’ve already decided the Duchess of Sussex is not your cup of tea, With Love, Meghan is probably best avoided.
