When Phoebe Gates Reaches Out to Kim Kardashian for Guidance, the Reality Star Offers Candid and Unfiltered Advice, Emphasizing the Challenges Ahead and Stating, ‘We Have a Lot of Work to Do’—Highlighting an Honest and Insightful Conversation Between Two Influential Women on Navigating Ambitious Goals
“Starting a company is no joke,” Kardashian said during a phone call with the two Phia co-founders

Kim Kardashian knows a thing or two about launching a company, and now she’s sharing her wisdom with Phoebe Gates.
In a playful new Instagram video, the 22-year-old daughter of Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates got into a bit of a disagreement with her business parter (and podcast co-host) Sophia Kianni over how much to reveal about their startup Phia, which is still in the pre-launch stage.
When Kianni said that, in her defense, “Kim told me that I could,” Gates didn’t believe her.
Obviously, there was only one solution: call the SKIMS founder herself.
“Girls, have I taught you nothing about media training? You can’t just give them everything right now,” advised Kardashian, 44. “Starting a company is no joke, so keep Phia under wraps until the perfect moment.”
“Trust me, it’ll be worth it. she continued, before saying goodbye — for now. “I’ll call you girls later. We have a lot of work to do.”
Gates and Kianni then teased that people can get on the waitlist for their new fashion platform by visiting Phia’s website — which, true to Kardashian’s advice, does not include many details about what to expect.
“If @kimkardashian tells you to wait, you wait,” they captioned the post.

Gates and Kianni recently spoke to PEOPLE about the launch of both their podcast The Burnouts.
“The point of this show is not really to be polished. It’s not a buttoned-up business plan,” said Gates, also an advocate for reproductive rights and gender equality.

Although now founders themselves, the pair told PEOPLE that they hope the series will be able to speak to people in their 20s — regardless of their career path.
“Our dream listener is the girl who’s grinding, she’s moving up the ladder, she’s working hard, she’s falling down and getting back up,” Gates said. “And she’s listening in her AirPods on the way to work.”
