Meghan Markle Just Revealed the Unexpected Hobby She Has in Common with Kate Middleton

Meghan Markle Netflix

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, just dropped, and within minutes of watching, I made a surprising discovery—she has the same unexpected hobby as her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. And no, it’s not something royal like horseback riding or afternoon tea traditions. It’s beekeeping.

Yep, in the opening scene, Meghan is suited up in full beekeeper gear, carefully harvesting honey from her own personal hive. “I’ve got good vibes. Good vibes for good hives,” she tells the camera.

She goes on to explain why beekeeping is more than just a hobby for her. “It’s like also that little reminder to do something that scares you a little bit,” she says. “I think that’s part of it, but I’m trying to stay in the calm of it. Because it’s beautiful to be this connected.”

Turns out, Princess Catherine is also a fan of the bees. Back in 2023, in honor of World Bee Day, Kensington Palace posted a rare photo of Kate fully decked out in beekeeping gear, tending to her hive at home. “We are buzzing about #WorldBeeDay,” the caption read, calling attention to the importance of bees in our ecosystem.

But beekeeping isn’t the only thing Meghan is making headlines for in her new series. In an episode with Mindy Kaling, she casually corrected her friend on how to properly say her last name—it’s Sussex, not Markle. Later, in an interview with People, she explained why the name means so much to her and Prince Harry.

“[Sussex] is our shared name as a family,” she said, adding that she hadn’t realized how significant it would be until she had kids. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H, and I all have together. It means a lot to me.” She wrapped it up with a sweet sentiment: “[The Sussex name] is part of our love story.”

Between beekeeping and heartfelt family moments, With Love, Meghan is already serving up plenty to talk about.
