Country music royalty took center stage at Opry 100, but one of the night’s most memorable moments came when Keith Urban paid tribute to Crystal Gayle. With his signature charm and masterful musicianship, Urban delivered a heartfelt rendition of Gayle’s 1977 classic “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.” As the legendary singer watched from the audience, Urban’s smooth vocals and tender performance captivated the crowd, making for an unforgettable tribute to one of country music’s most beloved voices.

Keith Urban Serenades Crystal Gayle With a Masterful Cover of Her 1977 Classic Hit During ‘Opry 100’
Keith Urban just did Crystal Gayle proud. During Opry 100: A Live Celebration, Urban expertly delivered a performance of Gayle’s 1977 hit, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”
Before Urban began singing, he reflected on Gayle’s career.
“She first played the Opry when she was 16 years of age. She was later inducted in as a member right here on this very stage by her big sister, Loretta Lynn,” Urban said. “She’s always been her own artist.”

With that, Urban told the crowd at Ryman Auditorium, “This song was a giant cross over hit. I’ve never played. I really wanted to do it tonight in honor of you, Crystal.”
He went on to do just that. Gayle herself was on hand for the performance, and couldn’t have looked more delighted as she watched Urban sing her GRAMMY-winning track.
“I love you Crystal Gayle!” he proclaimed, before diving into his own 2016 track, “Wasted Time.”
