Professional tennis player Jannik Sinner is known for his precision, composure, and strength on the court. But off the court, a recent encounter has captured the hearts of fans around the world—not for his tennis, but for a simple act of kindness that unfolded on the streets of Rome.

It began like any other day. Sinner, currently training in Rome ahead of the summer tennis circuit, was out for an early morning jog through a quiet neighborhood park. As he picked up his pace along a winding path, he noticed a small, scruffy stray puppy trailing behind him.

“At first, I thought it was just a coincidence,” Sinner said in a short interview. “But after a few minutes, I looked back and saw the little guy still running after me, his tail wagging like crazy.”

“I had to go back to the training center, so I left him near the entrance of the park. I looked back a couple of times. He was just sitting there, watching.”

A Loyal Friend Waiting

The next day, Sinner returned to the same spot—and there he was. The puppy, covered in dirt and curled up beneath a bench, had waited overnight.

“That moment broke me,” Sinner admitted. “I knew then that I couldn’t just leave him there again.”

Sinner took the pup to a local veterinarian for a full check-up. Apart from being underweight and suffering from fleas, the dog was otherwise healthy. No microchip was found, and no one had reported a missing pet matching his description.

What came next was perhaps the most heartwarming twist of all: Jannik Sinner adopted the puppy.

A New Life Begins

Naming the dog “Fede” — short for “fedele,” which means “faithful” in Italian — Sinner brought him home and introduced him to his life off the court.

“He follows me everywhere now,” he said with a laugh. “Even to training, when it’s allowed.”

Fede has quickly become a fan favorite, appearing in Sinner’s Instagram stories and even getting his own little dog bed in the tennis locker room.
