After four years of dating, Lainey Wilson just announced her engagement to Devlin “Duck” Hodges—but the “Hang Tight Honey” singer knew she would marry him from day one.
Duck is a former NFL quarterback best known for his stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He retired from playing professional football and now works in real estate. He’s also a champion duck caller, which is how he got his nickname.
Lainey and Duck started dating in 2021. But they kept their relationship under wraps until they made their public debut at the 2023 ACM Awards.
While Lainey and Duck value keeping their relationship private, they often share their love for each other in subtle ways. Lainey included several songs about love and marriage on her most recent album, Whirlwind, including “Counting Chickens,” “4x4xU,” and “Ring Finger.”
Lainey also joked several times that if Duck didn’t pop the question, she’d just ask him to marry her instead!
But it seems she didn’t have to…because the couple recently got engaged! They shared the happy news on Wednesday (February 12), including several photos of the romantic proposal.

Lainey Knew She Was Going To Marry Duck Since Their First Date
Lainey and Duck celebrated with their loved ones after the proposal. One of the couple’s friends, Caroline Munsick (who’s married to country artist Ian Munsick), shared several photos and videos from a gathering celebrating Lainey and Duck’s engagement.
Caroline also shared that Lainey predicted she was going to marry Duck at the start of their relationship. She said:
“@laineywilson told me she was gonna marry @devlinhodges 4 years ago while we were at a dive bar in Goodlettsville, TN for their first date… I had a feeling she was right.”
She definitely was right!
