Damian Lillard is out indefinitely but that ‘indefinitely’ does not necessarily mean it will be quite a while. The latest from Doc Rivers suggests the star Milwaukee Bucks guard is doing great in his recovery.

The nine-time All-Star was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis late on March 25. He has been missing games before that.

According to experts, a DVT means at least three months to fully recover.

The case with Lillard appears different as Rivers said he is already shooting and running. Dame is also constantly present in Bucks games, even on the road.

“Not really. Everything is progressing positively,” Rivers said when asked by The Athletic’s Eric Nehm for an update on his player’s rehabilitation.

“His last test was fantastic, so that’s about all I have, but fingers crossed.”

He also revealed that Lillard does basketball-related activities now.

“He can shoot and then light running,” he said

Damian Lillard can happen in the playoffs?

Bucks’ reserve guards are weathering the storm right now with Lillard still unable to suit up. And they have been doing that brillilantly.

Ryan Rollins had his moment in team’s five-game winning streak. Kevin Porter Jr. continues to be a reliable sixth man on the back court.

There is, however, hope that Lillard will be back to take his role back.

Bucks writer Nathan Marzion revealed on X that Rivers spoke in a podcast about the possibility of Dame Time happening in the playoffs. It might not be the first round, however.

“So Doc on a podcast this week said that they’re hoping Dame can be back in a week or two, after 8 days ago Shams said that they were hopeful he’d be back in a week and a half,” Marzion wrote.
